Impact of Road Pavement Condition on Vehicular Free Flow Speed, Vibration and In-Vehicle Noise

Road infrastructure in good condition is a key requirement for efficient transportation systems which leads to economic prosperity and improved quality of life. However, road surface conditions deteriorate over time according traffic loads environmental factors. Poor lead congestion, accidents, lost productivity, driver fatigue. This work considers the relationship between pavement vehicle speed, vibration, in-vehicle noise. A 7 km section Grand Trunk Road, Peshawar, Pakistan divided into 280 segments (140 each lane), length 50 m was observed Pavement Condition Index (PCI) segment determined based on recurrent distress type density ASTM D6433-011 guidelines. The number very good, satisfactory, fair, poor, poor are 51, 52, 81, 48, 42, respectively. mobile app BotlnckDectr employed measure RPM, noise, GPS location, time. Statistical analysis determine PCI results obtained indicate that noise vibration increase by 3.3% more than 30%, respectively, as changes from speed decreases 8.8%.
